Jamia Masjid - Srikakulam


Jamia Masjid / Jama Masjid is one of the oldest Masjid in India. This Beautiful Masjid is in 18 acres which is said to be biggest Masjid as per area-wise.

It's constructed by Sher Muhammad Khan in 1636 in 18 acres along with Boundary wall. Sher Muhammad Khan is the first Foujdhar(police officer) of Chicacole circar, which is in Qutbshahi dynasty of Hyderabad.

Earlier this Town is know Gulshanabad (city of garden) the garden around this Masjid gave this name, later it changed to Chicacole and after India's Independence it's again changed to present name Srikakulam.

The two Minars of this Masjid is constructed with three single big rocks each.

Special Attraction : You can see a pigeon Samadhi (grave) which is used to do Namaj here when it's alive. There are two wells in Masjid, one is having sweet water and the other one having salt water.
