Vasudeva Swamy Temple - Mandasa


Mandasa is a village and mandal in Srikakulam district of Andhra pradesh. Once it's used to call as Manjusha.

The temple was consecrated in 1744 AD by Raja Harihara Mani.

The idol of the presiding deity is carved from red sand rock.

Mandasa village is placed on the foothills of the Mahendragiri hills.

Mandasa Fort is said to be built by Lakshmana Raja Mani(ruler and landlord) in 1779.
        
Mahendra Giri was also said to be residence of sage Parasurama.

As per puranas it is belived that Hanuman jumped from the Mahendra Giri to Lanka when he went in search of Sita Devi.

In 17th & 18th century's the temple was well managed, but later it lost all it's fame and glory into ruins.
          
Sri Chinna Srimannaryana Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamiji  re-established the temple in 2003.
